In a recent post I shared the philosophy, “Hire Slowly, Fire Quickly” to describe my approach for managing my team.
A few months ago, I had to let someone go. I felt really bad about it but I knew it was the right thing to do for my practice and, ultimately, it would be the best thing to do for that person as well.
I spent a lot of time practicing my speech and I’ll share it with you next week.
But first, a little poll. Have you ever fired someone? Voting is quick and anonymous, just click this link.
While we’re on the subject I’d like to invite everyone to share any concerns and anecdotes about terminating employment. Any advice to share with the rest of the readers?
